It's not a bad idea. Worth a shot, I suppose.

It occurs to me that we could do something quite interesting with this - how about, if the same post gets reported more than (say) 3 times, it automatically get moderated causing it to require something more serious to be done with it?

It would of course be admin configurable ;)

Thoughts?
I've seen this kind of setup before. It got abused.

I'd suspect that's primarily WAP they're talking about.
Yeah this is WAP, not XHTML MP. It still tells a story. ;)

In related news, in Norway, a country of 5 million, around 200 people use WAP.

Also: Our biggest provider is shutting down WAP access.

Features / Re: Requiring JS in the admin panel
« on February 14th, 2012, 02:51 AM »
The only people who could have any sort of issue with this would be as you mentioned people using screen readers. Now I have no numbers on this, but in my head, people with screen readers do not seem like likely people to set up forams. Even if there is the odd one around, it depends on the javascript you are using and what the screen reader is capable of. Some of them can handle JS to some extent. And even if it can't, sometimes people can ask for help too. :)

TL;DR: Go for it.

Actually Nao, I think we can simply call ourselves a minority.

With this in mind, I must say I think it looks snazzy, and if it lets me do what I need to do I can have no complaints. :)

As a first off, I think we should rename the tab to be called 'Options'
Agreed.
Quote from Arantor on February 12th, 2012, 02:12 AM
Rename 'Summary' to 'My Profile'
Agreed.
Quote from Arantor on February 12th, 2012, 02:12 AM
And 'Look and Layout' to 'My Preferences'.
Nooot so sure. Though I can't think of a better name myself.

1. Board descriptions being shown inside the board too. (Optionally or otherwise) Is this necessary? Given that we're talking the same description on the board index as we are inside the board, is that actually worth doing?
I think they make sense to keep. Sometimes people click their way into a sub-board, either from the index (with no description) or from another webpage (with varying degrees of context provided.) It makes sense to keep it as an option IMO.
Quote from Arantor on February 12th, 2012, 01:49 AM
2. Would it not be better to have a main board description that's used on board indexes, and an optional bigger description that can be used inside the boards themselves?
I'm not sure to be honest.
Quote from Arantor on February 12th, 2012, 01:49 AM
3. Regardless of where the content comes from, is it really necessary that such a description should be a user preference rather than an admin one?
Users should only really have access to options that matter much to them (seriously, even on simple devices, users manage to mess things up.) I say it does good as an admin preference.

As for my personal opinion: I don't know, but I'm sure what you decide on will be a good solution. :)

Well... It's Wedge.org. It's running SMF, not Wedge. What exactly are you trying to say...? That your phone doesn't like HTML?
UC Browser definitely supports HTML. Hell it even supports HTML5.

Anecdotal, and even if it was a valid argument, you'd have to have used that phone for browsing for it to matter, and you would still have to use it. ;)

The 3330 is 11 years old or so. I know Nokias are known for their durability but there is a limit to how long one will hold on to even a marvel like the 3330. Maybe there is one in use here and there, but I REALLY doubt the 3330s still in use are used to browse the web. IIRC they do not even support GPRS.

Did ANYONE tell them that not everyone cares about installing Ruby (SASS) or Node.js (LESS) on their server?! :P
Very true!

Perhaps I should release WeCSS as an open-source library for everyone to use... Then maybe .Net would be willing to discuss Wedge at all when we go gold :P
This would be an act of good faith, and I think it is a good idea. Make sure however that this does not burden your time considerably.

Rip it out. Even the Nokia N-Gage (2003) supports HTML with the built-in browser. And almost every mobile phone with MIDP support can run Opera Mini. This includes the Nokia 3510i from 2002. Ten years ago. It's time to retire XHTML-MP.

It works only with Safari (I tried with Chrome and Firefox latest versions with no luck)..

Did you remember the prefixes?

Also appears you can only use shorthand.

Whatever you've got going on with the logo right now doesn't work to well for me. If I hover in the "outskirts" of it, it keeps switching back and forth.
