I think it boils down to what keys are where.

In the example mentioned (Skyrim) the 'accommodation' button is <tab>, then <arrow/WASD> to select which of the 4 you want and AGAIN to confirm.  3 keypresses. .  The <tab> key you use a lot (it's basically the /exit/ button too) and WASD is your normal movement keys.  So to some extent your hand doesn't have to drift far to do it that way.

OTOH the (default) quickkeys for one button are / (skills), p (magic), i ('nventory), m ('ap) - two of which are the first letter of the word in questions and the other two are directly above and below where your pinky finger rests.  It does mean taking your hand off the mouse - but as that's mainly for combat you don't have a lot of reason to open those menus then (map doesn't let you fast travel in combat anyway - and there's a Quick menu for Favorited items/spells which is bound to Q by default).  By placing them on the same side of the keyboard as the righthanded mouse user, they are IMHO, second- tier keys.

The argument is somewhat moot though, as you can use either method at any time without having to rebind anything. If I need *full* inventory/magic (not just quick list) during combat (or map/skills) I will hit <tab>.

FYI, including 2 buttons for the mouse, WASD, quick save/load and system menu (esc) .... there's 27 programmable keybinds in Skyrim - plus one or two non-changeable context keys (Like 'L' for Local map ONLY when looking at the main map).

@Adonis> The current logo's point is EXACTLY to be blander. It's easier to reach the right 'thing' if the font isn't too distracting. Here's an example with Kaffeesatz (the font in my sig.) And no, I don't like it in that sense.
That's what I was getting at though.  Quite a few 'big business' logos don't really have a 'thing' - it's just a unique font.

Take a look here Most of them have some letter off-colour (Mobile, HBO) or a unique letter (Exxon, Dell, NOS).  Notwithstanding that a lot are custom commissioned fonts....

Those that do have a 'thing' (Walmart, Nike, BMW) it doesn't have to be fancy at all.

Something that's in the current logo (well currently in Nao's signature), but none of the latest logos -- is a uniqueness to the letters in the word.

The one in the top banner right now adjusts the kerning, but doesn't do much else.

So, for the sake of future jokes - is there anything else you don't do in France?  :hmm:

I don't know if the triangle itself is Wedge-y enough to represent the project on it's own.  Perhaps if the 'w' is projected onto one of the sides...

There's lots of things to try with the 'd'.  It could be taller, shorter, narrower, distorted (triangle-ish), chopped or added to at the top.  The trick would be to keep it subtle enough to not look corny.  :P

What do you think, guys?
If I may make a small suggestion -- The shape/style colours etc are all great, but there's one little thing that's bothering me.

It doesn't 'pop' very much.  Particularly with the darker themes. There's a hint of a whisper of a bevel, but maybe a little stronger might help.  (A brighter white on the upper edging)

'SplitQuote'... is that a vB feature I've just never noticed before?
While there may be such a creature, I intended it to be a new machination/button (hence being able to split a sentence).  It seemed to be an appropriate name (if already taken).

Just skimming the topic as it's something I'm fond of.

I usually end up C/P the [BB] tags after I add some hard returns between the individual bits I'd like to quote.  Opening and closing tags seems easier than a mysterious and arbitrary > length.

It'd like a system that automated the above a little more.

So if the original quote is [startquote]"There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it,"[endquote]

Putting the cursor after "itself," and pressing 'SplitQuote' automagically get you

[startquote]"There is no one who loves pain itself,[endquote]

[startquote]who seeks after it and wants to have it,"[endquote]

I think all (and just) the deleted stuff should appear in it's own 'ghost topic' that opens in a new tab/window.

A small icon at the top of the thread to show how much is/isn't there.

<shrug>

I'm usually just a 'user' on a forum, so the less cluttered the better.

Okay, what do you think of this one...?
It's the latest committed logo. It's not perfect, but it's the idea. Really. I'm very happy with it now.
Gradient is nice. Proportions and positioning is good. But...
