Off-topic / The Humble Indie Bundle V
« on June 1st, 2012, 06:50 AM »
Anyone interested in gaming and charity should take a look :)

Five incredible, best-selling games. Humble Indie Bundle V features five modern masterpieces and their soundtracks. Experience the fear and paranoia of Amnesia: The Dark Descent; the intensity and impact of LIMBO; the zany characters of Psychonauts; the future-retro, audiovisual concoction of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP; and, for customers who pay more than the average price, the exquisitely crafted action-RPG, Bastion.

Pay what you want. If you bought all these games and soundtracks separately, it would cost around $110. But we are letting you set the price!

The games work great on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

You can support charity. Choose how your purchase is divided: between the developers, the Child's Play Charity, or the Electronic Frontier Foundation. And if you like this deal, a tip to Humble Bundle would be much appreciated!

Off-topic / MyBB Official site compromised

Dear MyBB users,
Last night our domain name and hosting accounts were compromised by hackers.

Users of MyBB should not be concerned about their own installations. There is nothing to indicate the MyBB software itself contributed to the hacking in any way.
We hope to restore access to all services as soon as possible. At this stage we don't believe our database was compromised, however we recommend users stay vigilant to unauthorized access of their accounts.

MyBB has a relatively low-risk security record. Personal information needs to be secure. If we can acces it, so can terrorists. The truth is buried under lies and false promises. We tried to bring the truth to light, and we were ignored.

We aksed you all before to open your eyes, have you done it? Have you seen that only you can keep yourself safe? Have you realized that only you are responsible for yourself? Have you opened your eyes to the fact that https:// does not mean that your information is safe? Or are you still being a sheep? Have you taken responsibility for believing lies?

We have, and will continue to cause destruction. Are you mad? We have given you warnings and shown you examples of what we can do. If these companies do not secure their sites properly, data will be leaked. It is as simple as that.

"hackforums.net" uses the forum software MyBB, We are tired of all the skids who claim they are hackers. As a personal note: we just don't like you, Jesse Labrocca.

For those who think that people shouldn't enter places unauthorized: remove your information. Your morals and legal jargon will not stop these things from happening. If you don't want people to have access to it, don't give them the opportunity. There is risk in every endeavor, you are all painfully unaware of the risk these databases hold. Don't despair, for we are watching, and will continue to be watching.

However, the ICO has flip-flopped at the last minute, now saying that "Implied consent is a valid form of consent."

With these innocent-sounding eight words, the ICO has radically shifted the goalposts for most website owners. Depending on the context, there may now be no need to get users to click a button or checkbox, as long as your users understand that using the site will result in cookies being used.

I complelely oblivious, what is the other? except reCAPTCHA, maybe the default captcha of every CMS and KeyCAPTCHA is that I've ever used.

Based on my own usage of CAPTCHA, I only install additional things that I used. Is there any cons if all of those captcha in single main package(e.g performance)? I seldom changing CAPTCHA if anything is not broken.

And "get rid of the web 2.0ish"... What is that supposed to mean?
It's likely he/she favor function and security[1] than cosmetic.

What's that crap about... :-/
Is that toy money, then? I saw on French wikipedia that the currency's value fluctuates greatly over the months... So when the topic title says "$11k", it really means "if you can do this immediately AND find someone who'd be willing to pay you $11k for your bitcoins..."
It could also mean "$11 bounty for new forum software" (without the "k") if this money thing fails to take off... Or "$11M bounty" even.
I presume you will get paid in Bitcoin. From one of the exchange[2] it's 1 Bitcoin = $5.08022. I never used Bitcoin myself  :)

I read a little about his requests, and although most of them are very doable in Wedge, our software is still definitely not going to please him since he "greatly" needs PostgreSQL support and we got rid of that to focus on MySQL exclusively.
Yeah.. I just remembered that :p But if you can provide it in MySQL[3] maybe he/she will consider it? :D
 1. With that kind of board of course you must secure it
