Title: Customisation site rewrrite

Now they seem to want to dump existing code and want to base it on SM Core. Really.

I just don't see it rolled out for another three years, and I'd say that's quite optimistic. And I like how quick Suki is to tell Nas that it's not dead.

After all these years (dr who blah blah) I have only one thing to say to you: lulz!

It is some kind of joke. Vaporware. It doesn't take two fucking years for what amounts to an advanced downloads system!

Yeah... Even then, what could possibly stop them from using Aeva Media, and kindly asking me & Dragooon to forfeit our copyright notice for them...? I would certainly consider it.
At least they'd get a decent system up and running in a few days...

*shrug*

I find it hilarious that they're using smCore which is far from ready, and it has to interoperate with SMF itself. Good luck with that.

Or maybe it's just her way of saying, "We'll never do it"...

Or, worse, her way of saying that they grossly underestimate the time needed to finish smCore... Heck, even we underestimated the time needed for Wedge to be 'clean' by over a year...

Given the progress of smCore which can be judged by the age of posts on smcore.org, it's really a LONG way away. I doubt they'll thank me for pointing this out, though, no doubt I'm causing drama again.

They even admit it...

Hey when did they make their forum public?

smcore.org has been public for a while, a couple of months at least.

Interesting that I never noticed...

I'm sure I mentioned it a bit back...?

While it may be true that it'll probably be a couple of years before we will see a smCore/SMF3 release. smCore will be ready before that, and it will be used in more than just the SMF release.
So first they have to get smCore usable, then build the customisation site on top of that, to interoperate with what will by then be SMF 2.1. Is it only me that sees all the problems that will occur with that?

I hope they succeed. Competition hooah~

I'll still be using Wedge of course. Makes no sense to pour my time into one board type then switch to another one.

You can understand our scepticism, though, can't you? Multiple different people have attempted to rewrite it over and over and little actually seems to have happened.

Yeah. It's just that I'm trying to be a more optimistic person lately. I'm always the guy who goes "that'll never do", so for once I'll be the guy that goes "good luck" instead. :P

We woul love to say we are optimistic. But it just isn't realistic to expect them to reinvent the wheel in leas than three years and without multiple team changes. smCore needs someone who'll do most o the work over the years and ensure it isn't bloated even before release.
Pete and I work full time on Wedge. We know how hard it is to stay focused for so long.
