Yet still, their own website refers to Simple Machines LLC
*sigh*

I guess Wedge is no longer 'illegal', then?

Well, they have no reason to prevent us from adding a link in our signatures any longer...

And they still managed to fuck up the release with the wrong links and stuff. Bravo.

Still, this means I can do one last sync, a final compare and kiss them goodbye.

Finally...!

The final sync is done, so I just need to breeze through the files and verify that we got everything we were supposed to get and nothing that predates their licence crap remaining.

And I can't even browse that... :(

(I lost my repositoryhosting password in the crash.)

Now it is not mandatory to maintain their copyright notice, is it?

Nice, now you can do anything with it, but you can't use the name SMF (or it contributors) to promote Wedge without their permission.

That's mostly a non issue actually - we couldn't have done so before either anyway because it's a trademark and TM usage rules govern that too.

In other news, I'm honestly curious to see how many mod authors upgrade their mods to 2.0 final.

I don't think I will myself.

In one of them I already told them to stop asking for new features because I don't think I am going to continue developing it for SMF, as I normally don't have time to write code for software I don't use:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=283309.msg3038030#msg3038030

So maybe I will just wait until somebody ask and I will use the opportunity to answer again something similar.  :eheh:

With any luck, updating your mods for Wedge should be a one-off process since, with any luck, add-ons will be much more stable between versions :)

Well, thats the last time I do an upgrade and move folders in one go ...............whilst trollied.

I keep most of my sites pretty low maintenance by not using many mods but the one site is going to be a pain for that, it took me a day and a half to perform the Rc3 to RC5 upgrade seeing how I did it without taking the site offline, and I bet the final upgrade will be similar too :/

Still, after that, one more jump to Wedge...

See. They are already asking (I knew it):

You may notice I manage to squeeze the word Wedge 7 times while answering  :niark:

There was one point I felt I had to answer.

Correct, at least that's the plan - no sense writing two importer libraries when they already wrote one...

As I was saying there, maybe I will do that importer or maybe not.

Once I have both importers in my hands (the one from 1.1.x to 2.0 and the one from 2.0 to Wedge) I will check in one of my forums what is easier for me.

It also will depend on the amount of people with the same problem I have. (A lot of forums in 1.1.x). We will see.

Only 25 times? I am sure I have written that word there more than 25 times myself.

Just an FYI, httpBL installs and runs fine in 2.0 Final.

I can confirm that and Stop Spammer is working as well.  It may have been something in my forum, but I did have to make one manual edit to get httpBL to install. It was one line in /Sources/managepermissions.php  The installer could not find
Code: [Select]
'view_stats' => array(false, 'general', 'view_basic_info'),
, but upon looking at the file, it was there.

Must have been because of another mod. I didn't have to edit anything to get it to install.

yea, I didn't research it, but I suspect it may have been the arcade mod that I installed before httpBL. I have followed the same procedure each time I upgraded to the next RC version. I always installed SP, the arcade, and then the anti spam mods. All other mods afterward were in no particular order ever.

Luckily, once the new system for plug-ins is finished in Wedge we will never have this kind of problems here, as the plug-ins here don't need to touch any line of the code at all to work.  :eheh:

A lot easier for mods/plug-ins developers and users.
Title: Re: 2.0 in download area
Post by: Arantor on June 13th, 2011, 05:44 PM
That's definitely the plan :) I need to finalise some of the details in my head before I start building (like how versions should be handled, whether a plugin intimates its own version requirements or whether Wedge is smarter and does some kind of autodetection. Lots of ideas buzzing about this in my head right now.

As somebody else told you somewhere else "Go crazy and do them all".  :eheh:

I know you are going to do it properly and, when you finish it, I know you are not going to make my day. YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE MY F**ING YEAR.  :niark:

Also, http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=434092.msg3073089#msg3073089 is interesting.

I'm not exactly sure what the team will say but it's interesting nonetheless, and it does mean we're even more in the clear than before, bwhahahah.

Also, it's starting to be noticed: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=438826.0

Yes, all software invariably ships with bugs, but it still feels like a PR move to me rather than one done for the right reasons.
