Title: WTF
Post by: NonSecwitter on February 24th, 2014, 07:40 PM
How does this happen?

WTF

Better... how do I fix it. I can't even see it through explorer, nor can I delete the parent directory. I can't delete it or the parent directory or rename the folder through CMD.

Sounds like fun... Did you try the multiple versions of the DIR command..? (See 8.3 versions, etc.)

I have not. I didn't realize there were different versions.

I think I may have created an alternate universe where a reference to one point in virtual space folds directly back onto another point in virtual space. At least... attempting to reference that directory is causing windows to think I'm referring to the parent directory, so even a recursive rmdir /S CMS from a higher directory is causing it to give a "not empty" error.

I can't change the name. A friend just suggested i manually edit the mft. I'll see if that works.

Perhaps there are some special chars in the name of the folder.
