Hellos,
I just decided to take a closer look at noisen.com today and found out it's a nice piece of software. Super modded version on SMF. Please was wedge like this at a stage?

noisen.com hasn't changed since ~2009.
My goal in 2010 was for Wedge to be what noisen.com is.
Pete went in a different direction, so I took the middle road.
There are no *immediate* plans to be further noisenized. Why?

Yep I agree and still looks great

I don't know about people... And, I don't know about what they like in Noisen.
To me, Noisen is great because of the music database at fox.noisen.com (I wrote Aeva' playlist system for it), because of some mods I wrote for it and that are in Wedge now, and some cool tweaks I did to the profile system, although I didn't write most of it. But other than that, if you're talking about the layout and all, I never found the 'right' version, between the earlier theme (/?theme=9), and the current one... Hmm.
So, I'm unlikely to ever make a Noisen skin, until I actually get to start using Wedge on Noisen.com, and then I'll probably do another mix, or something...

What I like on Noisen.com is not the layout ( I actually hates the layout because it looks cluttered and bet me it will confuse an average user). I like many things about it
The link structure general gives the power to look beyond message board, more like modern forum or even social network. The sub domain patterns are also great - users profile are linked to my.nosien.com/username, boards and topics have their own subdomain, also does aeva videos.
-
- link structure: it's just PrettyURLs, right..? Like here. My custom (faster) version, of course.
- subdomains: it's possible to do these in Wedge, too, but it needs configuring on your server's side, so it's not clearly explained how to do it.
- not all boards/blogs have their own subdomain, and my.noisen.com is something I'd have done by default in here, but I want a 'clean' Wedge to run on, and this wouldn't be a clean one, as I can't assume all Wedge users are gonna have the ability to choose their subdomains, hmm...

SSorry to bump on this old topic,
is there any way of making wedge inherit the 'strength' of noisen? It must not mean now, maybe later
Eg the link structure: May not be totally subdomain
wedge.org/boardname is ok ( wedge has this :) )
wedge.org/topicnumber/topic name ( like noisen but not with subdomain)
wedge.org/nao ( users profile)

Afaik pretty URLs behave the same as in noisen.
You can also have sub domains but because it requires server tweaks, it's not enabled by default. Ie you have to change the URL in the database but it works. Noiaen is the same really.
Nao.noisen.com = sub domain
Noisen.com/nao = directory ;)

Afaik pretty URLs? Never heard of it. Is it a plugin in Wedge???

Afaik = As far as I know. Get your web acronyms straight, or you'll have a hard time following conversations... :P
