For those of you wondering, I'm not really a negative person. I'm cynical, sure, but only because I've had to deal with so many idiots that I have little faith left in humanity.

Haha! I'm not actually negative, it just has a real habit of coming across that way. You know how there's the optimist ("glass half full") vs pessimist ("glass half empty")? Sceptic and cynic, certainly.

The basis of the conversation is simply that if you put '(c) Forum Name' at the bottom, it sort of presumes that you're claiming copyright over *everything* on the page. Copyright law does not automatically make that assertion, as in I still own my posts by law, unless I specifically agree to something granting the forum the right to make some claim of ownership over them.

The reason this escalated how it did is because I've had a number of run-ins with that particular person where he'll ask a question to try and justify something he thinks is a good idea, I'll answer it with a brief explanation as to why it's not, he'll ignore me and do it anyway and then wonder why I don't have a positive outlook on him.

Or, as cited, he'll do only the first thing that comes to mind and doesn't want to do anything more. Like he's complained quite a bit about not being able to monetise his forum, but anything requires work on his part, he's not interested in (like talking to advertisers himself, etc, but he's the first to complain that Adsense doesn't pay him enough)

He asked it for a refund because he couldn't get it to work on older Symbian phones and newer ones had problems. Although I admit that's not really a stupid reason, but still....

I dont know why she just didnt abandon religion and drop straight to her knees there and then.

When I was 13 or 14, I was totally in love with her... Until I watched Beetlejuice and fell forever for Winona. I was mad at Johnny for dating her... :lol: And then he started dating Vanessa. By that time I was over my childhood crushes, so I thought, okay at least this guy is not only a fantastic actor, he also has good taste in women. :P

 1. I prefer to imagine that Batman & Robin, Twins, Junior and Kindergarten Cop never happened, so that it's merely Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines I can think badly of him for :P

Hmm, I saw Twins at the movies, and liked it. Granted, I've always liked Danny de Vito... But I think it was the first time I remembered him as funny etc. (No, Taxi wasn't shown in France until the late 90's on an obscure cable channel where I happened to catch it with subtitles and all, yay. Now that was a fun show.)

Seriously, you have to watch an Audrey Hepburn movie.
Try Roman Holiday if you're into romcoms (although I doubt it'd be the case these days...), or Charade, a Hitchcockian movie with a funny story.

I didn't like Twins, I thought it a bit stupid (which is quite impressive given that I do like some of Jim Carrey's films), it just struck me that the jokes were written in such a way that they came across as forced even if they weren't intended as such.

I've still never seen Taxi either.

Sadly, most of my DVDs are packed up in boxes right now, but I guess I could find something on iTunes to watch?

What's there not to like in Jim Carrey...? The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, ASOUE, even Dumb & Dumber was a good movie...

Since I mentioned it, it made me want to watch it again, just back from it actually... I went for episode 1x08, which is Christopher Lloyd's first guest spot on the show. The episode was a bit slow though, but had a few funny lines by de Vito.

I find that American written humour tends not to be that funny. What's not to like? Well, Dumb and Dumber was, um, kinda dumb for me. The second Ace Ventura film was pretty bad, him as The Riddler in Batman Forever was passable I guess, and Liar Liar was... not so hot either, nor was The Number 23.

He's got a better track record than some actors I can think of, though.

Taxi was a really good show. A great album also (Bryan Ferry)

(Was in Marseille when they shot the first one over there. Only time I ever saw a movie (action) scene being shot AND saw it on TV later, lol.)

No, wouldn't even have tried... Clear security perimeter, things like that. They were shooting a near-car pile-up right next to the Gare Saint-Charles train station, meaning -- lots of onlookers, lots of security. They rehearsed the scene 2 or 3 times, with the stunt vehicles stopping right before the end each time, and then they shot the final scene in a single shot[1], the final scene is about 5-10 seconds in the finished film, it took them over an hour to do it. What a waste of time and money... The scene wasn't even very exciting. I think they wanted to do a French Bullit with comedy... It was a box-office success with 3 sequels, but also made Luc Besson (the movie's producer) suddenly look like the French George Lucas, instead of, I don't know, the guy who made Leon such an endearing film.
