Apparently it's a competition for young(13-17 year) software developers and this is it's second year. Somehow I didn't know about this last year, but I'm going to participate this year since it's my last chance to participate. Grand prize winners get a chance to visit Googleplex.
The competition is task based, tasks related to different fields in software development such as coding, documentation, tutoring etc will be posted of varying difficulty and one can select them on a first come first serve basis. Every completion gets points based on the task's difficulty(1, 2 or 4) and the top 10 gets the grand prize.
I really want to win the grand prize, hopefully I'll get some good points.

Nice, hope you do well :)
(It's kind of sad really, I was 14 when Google was founded, there just wasn't the same kind of thing around when I was in the right age group for this sort of thing)
-
Good luck!
I was 22 when Google was born. Bunch of kids :p
-
I was 6 :P
Good luck Dragooon! Keep us up to date on this! ;)
-
Good luck

Good luck :)

Best of luck

So the competition starts this Monday, unluckily this time they only chose one PHP organisation, LimeSurvey. Luckily their CI port had some legal problem and they've chosen to switch to Yii, making a lot of tasks possible :D. Although I had to convince them to add full framework porting tasks to a competition for under 17 year olds.

Are you trying to get internship with Google? :P
-
I really want to win as this is the first IT related competition where I can show my true skills :P
-
Not that many people would be interested in it, but :

Good work so far!
-
It's a bit abstract to me with just points, but... looking good?!
-
Still going strong :D
-
Shitiz?
-
Yeah.
-
I see you're still first by far! Hopefully remains this way :)
-
So, Dragooon! Google Code-In is complete, and you're still first (by a large margin!).
Does this mean you won the competition? :D
-
Oh hell yeah! I should be receiving the grand prize along with confirmation by the end of Feb or within the first week of March.
-
Congratulations are in order, then!! :)
Why didn't you mention it before?

Forgot, sorry. Been buried in a lot of stuff lately. Haven't been online much.

Awesome! :)
-
Congrats :)
-
Yeah congrats :D
-
I should add it's well deserved -- you can glance at his work when following links, there are some impressive things. Including some assembler code!
(My little finger is telling me that Google Code-In becomes much easier to handle by using the Google search engine, just like any sane person would do... :P)

Wow!! Congrats!! :yahoo:
Me in the middle of the crowd asking for Dragooon's autographs:"Hey, he's a friend of mine!! I know him! He helped me with a tooltip!!"
-
Give it 5 years and Dragooon will be one of the rockstar programmers who will be mobbed when he gets off a plane...
-
And then maybe we'll have to kindly ask him to get us a Google internship :P
-
Well done Dragooon

Uhm, there seems to be a problem with img tags.. I tried to add this image:
http://[url][url][url][url][url][url]http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/09/06/article-0-0B0E2298000005DC-67_634x396.jpg[/url][/url][/url][/url][/url][/url]
Probably it's hotlink-protected, so Wedge can't reach the image and my tags became:
(img)http://(url)http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/09/06/article-0-0B0E2298000005DC-67_634x396.jpg(/url)(/img)
(I'm using the rounded parentheses to avoid tags being processed)
EDIT: oops, there seems to be a problem with links too! Wedge automatically added tags when I posted the above url (without any tag):
