Hello,
I just registered here. My Kaspersky always alerts that the file draft_autosave.js and spellcheck.js contains virus and denied the access. Is it a mistake from Kaspersky?
Thanks,
-
Yes, yes it is.
-
spellcheck.js is a default, unmodified SMF file. It's definitely a false positive.
draft_autosave.js is Pete's draft mod. I can vouch for its quality and safety.
(What exactly can JavaScript do to your computer anyway?)
-
It's their heuristic detection method, it is woefully zealous.

A brief report from Kaspersky. I am unsure what Javascript could harm too. Well, I just ignore it anyway. :eheh:
If I open the file http://wedge.org/Themes/default/scripts/draft_autosave.js?rc3 directly from Chrome browser, it alerts nothing.

It mostly depends if the browser has a vulnerability in the JS engine or not as to how far it can go. But if it can get a foothold, session stealing and even password stealing are not that hard to imagine. Plus drive-by malware downloads are Javascript triggered.

Before I used Avira Personal version (Free). Then, I switched to Kaspersky because I got a free license from the office.

The moment you install it...it take an amount of resource of cpu...
Bloatware.
-
That kind of logic sounds like everything that takes up CPU is bloatware and as one software programmer once said "if you're that paranoid about resources, stow the computer away and go outside and play in the sandbox.." Really :^^;:
-
So my logic is incorrect then? :p
-
Bloatware == A useless program that eats up the CPU like a pack of hungry wolves down some raw meat
That better? :P
-
There's always a limit after which you can't really consider a program as efficient.
Of course, at startup a program may be needy. What matters is how much memory it uses after some time.
At startup, Opera uses a lot of memory. Mostly all of it when I have hundreds of tabs. After a few minutes, it starts reallocating back some of its memory to the system. Because it's done with sorting.

Why don't you guys stop downloading pr0n from weird sites? I mean, that help me a lot...
