Post by: godboko71 on April 29th, 2011, 09:13 PM
Goodness people are cranky over on that other board. Something crawl up the teams rear ends?

Nothing radical its just nice that its fairly friendly over here compared to a whole bunch of cranky people (not that people can't have bad days but come one no it can't be every day.)

Maybe people are looking for trouble over there, maybe (most likely) they're sick and tired of waiting for eternity to end so SMF can be finally released.

Maybe it's the long-lasting aftershock left over from the numerous scars that the January split and the August fights left.

Maybe so, I didn't say people had to be happy or nice, however as a user the drama isn't so bad the sticks in the bums long after is though. It just gets old seeing people snapped at for asking a question or being told stuff needs to be done in PM or other stupid stuff. Lots of the stuff makes Nao's (thats no slight Nao) bad days look calm. Sure there language may be "nicer" but the attitudes are much worse.

Me using the word cranky is be being nice about the attitudes.

Anyway no one had been rude to me personally I am just a reader for the most part, however seeing how rude so many of the team members are is just sickening after awhile.
[1][2]
 1. Not everyone is a cranky butt, and I have not been on the receiving end.
 2. I believe in transpacific so it isn't the politics or the drama that bothers be. Its the attitudes.

As much as I hate politics and drama, someone gonna have to step in eventually and defend their right, that's the case with SMF and me. I tried to avoid drama as much as I could. Even an unhealed scars can be wounded again.

To answer everything.

1. History is recorded with the bias of the victors, and with that, it can be rewritten to exclude things that would be better buried. I give them enough credit to not rewrite everything. I have heard credible rumours that it is different behind the scenes, and some of the crankiness is no doubt in part to people like me in there twisting the knife, giving them the proverbial kick up the arse.

2. Certain debates have been resurrected there by one of our favourite commentators here, peddling the same lines as before. I particularly liked the way he was kind enough to insinuate that I have no life (as opposed to having multiple responsibilities to answer to) and that I'm blinded by my experience when it comes to having ideas and building things.

3. The whole me-on-sm.org thing... I'm coming to the conclusion that it is because I hold on to things too much. It's part of what makes me who I am, what drives my ability to be passionate about what I do. And it hurts like crazy to be like that; I wouldn't be at all surprised if what I've been feeling lately is stress induced.

Time after time, I said to myself I'd stop, and time after time, I gave them a second chance, and a third, and more. And I don't know why, but I did.

Then I see the BS over there, the snide comments from people in no position to pass judgement on me, from people who claim to stand on high in positions of responsibility but do not deserve to be there, from people who have contributed fragments of time here or there. Those who stood by SMF, I have respect for, even if I don't entirely agree, but there are those who went and returned and somehow gained positions of responsibility without really having earned it from where I'm standing.

I do not like what I see over there, I like the future of SMF even less with some of the attitudes being displayed, of over zealous moderators, of ideological preachers and ultimately an astounding lack of vision and balls.

I have seemingly been re-granted the ability to edit and remove my posts, without my asking, but I won't use it. Removing posts was slightly petty and smacks of trying to rewrite history somewhat, and in some ways I'd rather leave them there because it will serve as a reminder of things gone by, as a reminder of things to do and not to do.

So, my plan is to take the rest of tonight off, before getting on with some coding for Wedge tomorrow, and just maybe proving that I'm above a certain Texan's snide jibes by actually being a visionary, though I don't think I ever let my experience cloud my vision.

I understand your reasons. Its time to move on mate.

Although I'm in no position (nor the experience) to criticise SMF, but I think (after not reading all the comments) SMF is not what I envisioned as a community project. IMHO the development should alway remain independent of the licensing. Granted the current licensing is not good one but I see no reason to freeze everything. If the development continued, at least we already seen SMF3.0 with new license in place...

At the end of day, I appreciate what both Nao and Arantor did to SMF and I look forward to see the upcoming Wedge (and use it)  :eheh:

And yes Arantor, deleting your post serve no purpose but leaving it there shall serve as the reminder not only for you (but of course it is you) but also the rest of us who knows you and understand whats going on...

I don't know what's with the "Texan guy" but to me he's a guy with issues, and I don't have time to waste with people who have issues -- whether it be with me or something else.

During the time yall™ are flaming each other, there's more work being done on my side. Just sayin'. There's nothing like a freakishly huge to-do-list.

The main reason I took umbridge with Texan Guy's latest nonsense is that he's made comments that do directly relate to me (and to a lesser degree you) and even tried to use some of the stuff from my own blog to justify his ridiculous position.

The thing I dislike most about that guy is not so much that he attempts to stand his ground on anything he says but the fact that each time he's asked to put up or shut up as in lay down a plan that makes sense or provide some code to back his pie dreams.... he resorts to blaming his short fall and failuers in his life on his son. I find that absolutely repulsive.

The Texan dude is nothing but a balloon with air.....ridicoulous and as spoogs said, repulsive...

What's the point in having a son if you can't blame everything on him?™™™™

You know what? I find it funny that when a *new* team joins the fry, they get to see the truth that is hidden from the public if they weren't part of the J10. Why not show the truth to the public?

They get to see part of the truth, the part recorded there, and as we know history can be manipulated.

None of the new team members were privy to the full events that happened, they weren't in the chat rooms, they weren't in IM conversations... and none of that is documented.
