Title: Post Time
Post by: BurkeKnight on August 21st, 2014, 11:29 PM
Seems a little error in the post times.
In recent posts, this post I made about 1 hour ago, shows:
Today at 10:46 AM by BurkeKnight      Bug reports > Wedge.org broken in IE11

Time for me, is 5:27 as write this now.

Also, on posts:

I know there is the server time, but should it not show me my times on both, since I have my time set and showing on the forum?
Also, the 7 hours ago, should not be showing that, even with time zones.

EDIT:
This post shows as:
Today at 11:29 AM by BurkeKnight      Bug reports > Post Time

Post Time

Looks like timezone handling is broken. .? Maybe a server problem... anyone else on your sites?

Can anyone check whether post time & edited time work for you in topic pages..? (e.g. here!)

This is only for people who aren't on my timezone, i.e. Paris / Brussels / etc. For further reference, I edited the message above at 01:13 AM on August 26 (for me), which is also server time. You can see the 'base' time for you by hovering the post time & modified time -- it'll show you a tooltip with the time for you, I think.

Edit: Seems ok!

Good... But I just realized I failed to commit something else, and it probably wasn't any useful, so I'm still interested in knowing whether or not it works for Americans and Asians.

Test from South America...

It says "4 hours ago", but when I hover it gives the correct local time for here.

So... Means there's still a bug right?

Looks like it's half fixed i.e. it says the right time (10:55PM) but should now say "24 hours ago" but instead says "28 hours ago".

Okay, lemme look into that (again)... Changing my time zone to Rocky Mountains... (Because I've been breaking baaaad these days!)

:edit: All right, looks like relative times are hardcoded on the server or something...

:edit: Test...

:edit: Looks like it's working now..?

Should be all good!
The problem was that the datetime param should show a server-based timestamp, because it'll always show a date based on the server's time zone...

Please test whatever was fixed earlier, and might be broken by this new fix, before I make a fool of myself and commit it... ;)
