What should this say?
-
Nope!
I've updated the language files for this plugin. Please redownload and tell me if it makes sense at all..!
-
I've downloaded the latest plugin files and overwritten the old ones. At the risk of sounding completely stupid, nothing has changed. How do I get the latest files to be displayed?
-
Try to empty the file cache and see if that helps.
-
Yes... Generally speaking, whenever you update some files (ESPECIALLY language files), you should hit the 'Admin > Purge cache' option in the main menu. I'm not sure plugin language files are cached, but if it doesn't work for you, maybe they are.
As for this particular plugin, I've only updated the language files, but I may have mixed up the language entry names, I don't know.
-
I did try the 'Admin > Purge cache' option (yesterday) but I still have that blank space.
I was about to try it purging the cache again now but, honestly, I can't find it!
-
I'm sorry, it's working just fine for me. Are you sure you uploaded the correct fixed files..?
Try to switch to another language. (Well, that's if you have other installed languages -- see Wedge/languages repo.)
-
Nao, I do appreciate how difficult and frustrating trying to handle random problems like mine can be but...
Yes, I uploaded the correct files (that is to say the latest available plugins zip file) and yes, I tried another language (English and UK English) but the problem is still there.
You say purge the cache but I cannot find the setting to do that. Where *exactly* is the 'purge' button? (I did it before but can't find it now).
-
It's not a button, it's a menu item in the main menu. Admin > Purge cache.
-
Then that is why I can't find it - it's not there.
-
Maybe you have some other file caching system in your server environment..?
-
Yes, the only reason it would be hidden is if cache is disabled.
However, language caching is mandatory in Wedge, IIRC, because of technical issues that would arise otherwise (most notably the fact that you can edit your language files from within the admin area.)
I'll change that to make it show up whatever the cache settings are.
Also, that separator at the end..? Meh..! Dunno if it's worth fixing though... :^^;:
-
Caching is disabled because, wedge says, "Wedge was unable to detect a compatible accelerator on your server." But, yes, it is visible when I turned on Level 1 Caching.
I now have the birthday text visible via a complete wedge reinstall.
-
You didn't have to, really... :^^;:
You could also have emptied the language cache via Admin area > Languages > Empty cache.
-
I had already tried that when I was looking for 'Purge Cache' :hmm:
-
It's really odd that it didn't work for you...
Heck, when I updated my language files for the calendar, I didn't even have to refresh anything... :-/
