Title: Unable to use 'Upload a media file' button from Android S3
Post by: Farjo on March 13th, 2013, 10:49 PM
One of our members is looking at the alpha Wedge and reports that he cannot upload a file using the Media button. He says:

"I'm having problems using android on my galaxyS3 jellybean. Clicking the icon opens another window with buttons to choose file. However when clicking the link the whole button highlights and then does nothing to allow file select."

Wait, you're talking about the gallery?

As far as I know, the media upload doesn't work properly on mobile devices. The main attachments clearly do.

Mass Media upload = uses Flash. My plans are to use pure HTML+JS in the near future; haven't worked on it yet.
Regular Media upload = uses HTML, should work..?

Yes - uploading a file from within a post such that you get an SMG code within your post.

This is when making a post and clicking the Media icon to the left of the Mona Lisa. I don't have a smart phone so unfortunately  cannot do multiple testing.

Works but doesnt auto-post the file.
URL redirects to ://wedge.org/do/media/?%3CURL%3E?sa=item;in=139;noh=message
So this is a bug in my automated scripturl conversions but shouldn't have affected your older alpha...?

I don't think that's the same problem. He's saying that he hits the Choose button and nothing happens - just that the "whole button" is highlighted. It's an issue first pointed out on our SMF site using Aeva2.

Well, with my S3 + Chrome Mobile + Foxhound custom ROM, I didn't have any problems at that step...

What about Samsung's stock browser? I'd test it but my Galaxy S and Note don't have any battery.

Same here no problems using stock Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2 and the stock Chrome browser.

If you use Flash though Adobe no longer really supports anything and pushing users to HTML5. No flash for Nexus 4 and I don't really care.

Also I believe for Firefox on you have to download a second plugin for html5. Don't know about Opera. Chrome has the support built in.

That is if you have any html5 in there.
