Hi,
I had a look at the Wedge project long, long ago. Now I have revisited your site and all I can say is WOW. I want to try it!!! However, I have some very specific requirements which I simply cannot go without them, being having a "portal" one of the most important.
I have seached the forums and found nothing about this feature. And to say the truth, I was unsure wether making this post in the "Feautures" or the "Plugin" forum, so I apologyze if I chose the wrong forum.
Right now I am using Simpleportal and it would be just great to able able to keep using it; but I would be fine just with any other solution ofering similar functionality. So, the question is... Which options offer Wedge right now to be able to use it as a portal?
Thanks in advance.

You would have to code a portal plugin on your own, there is no one finished yet. Depending on your needings, this is more or less easy.

Seems like I will stick to SMF for the time being.
Thanks for your reply.

There's the problem. People want a simple, ready-to-go forum system. They don't want to code stuff themselves.
And if it really was "more or less easy", why hasn't anyone finished a portal plug-in before now?

Since early 2015, Wedge has started supporting SMF mods again.
Dropping support for SMF mods was the will of Arantor; since he left the project long ago, I felt no reason not to add compatibility.
However, mods will still need rewrites for Wedge: the code isn't the same everywhere, and there are a few differences in how Wedge handles mods compared to SMF. But the XML files for modifications should require very few modifications.
I'm sure I already wrote stuff about that...
Anyway, the main problem is that I stopped development not long after I added support for SMF mods (maybe I added mod support to make it easier to add features to Wedge now that I'm half-gone..?!). So I haven't advertised this feature in any way. I've just lost so much money and time with Wedge, I couldn't possibly keep it up without anyone committing to support me financially to keep working on it (which would be a dream come true, at this point.)
That's the way things are.

Well, technically Wedge never really needed a portal, because you can define your starting page to be whatever you like... (In the main settings. There's a Homepage tab in it... Just look into it, it's fully documented.)
I wanted to have some sort of HTML template thingy for homepages, but then again you could always do those yourself...
