Post topics and replies to the board only after they have been approved
Post new topics, but hide until approved
Post replies to any topic - but require approval
Post attachments, but hide until approved
I'd like to have a board where guests can post, but I can't, since I don't want to be laden down with spam posts on my site.
At least with these permissions, I can not have them be showing, if it is a spammer.

Is it really needed with high strength captcha?
It would probably be better to look at way to integrate with akismet or a decent captcha rather than set the approval option (I don't know many administrators that would be willing to approve every post).

Maybe, but I would still like the ability to post moderate guest posts.
Not just for spam control, but also for basic content control.
After all, never know what some trouble maker may pop in and try to post. ;)
As for approval, a lot of people set guest posting that way, and sometimes, even member posts in certain boards. Look at SMF site's Showcase board, for one.

Hmm... Dunno, to me the simple solution is to set the default membergroup to being post-moderated, then you create another group for users with 1+ posts and disable post-moderation for it..?

For Guests?
There is no membergroup for guests.
That's what I was getting at.
There's no way to set for guests to be able to post and have the posts moderated.
