Something I've seen done - we can already send a PM to someone by clicking on it in the minimenu.

Would it be of use to be able to send a PM quoting a given post in the process? I'm thinking this would be a new item in the minimenu per post if the user can send PMs.

You could do a option like in vbulletin to show just that particularly post and then next to this menus:

add an option to pm the member with that post quoted

I don't really see the display-individual-post happening. There is no shortage of space for this option either - there is an entire *menu* visible in each post already...

Then i guess the best option is to display it in the minimenu, and add the same permission if the person can or not send pm's

Ok so I giggled a little bit on how this went down... sorry :niark:

I've manually quoted a post to send as a PM a grand total of 4 (maybe 5) times and I did think it would have been nice to just click a button.

I'm with it, wont be a heavily used featured but it would be handy.

Very good idea... I'm surprised it never slipped through my mind. It would be very helpful to encourage going to PM in some flooded/troller topics.

I did wonder whether it should be a plugin, but it could be a useful core feature too :)

Either would be fine, we simply need to ensure that the menu entry is posted in the correct mini-menu (post or user? I'd be tempted to say post...), and that icon/text blend in with the rest.

Either way it's an injection into the mini menu at the relevant point, nothing more.
