Something I've been thinking about lately, while working on some other stuff: the admin panel asks you to re-enter your password periodically.
What if, at the top of page, it also said: "You will be asked to re-enter your password in 58 minutes" or however long it would be?
Disclaimer: we found an old Christmas pudding in the cupboard. Best Before April 2012 it said, but it smelled OK, tasted OK when we heated it up... but it was already steeped in rum, brandy and sherry before we got to it, and it's had over a year to mature (so it's pretty ripe and alcoholic where the fruit has also fermented a bit)... so I'm a bit tipsy and as such the idea might have been a bit nonsensical.
In other news, I really need to write that 'I was drunk while posting this' plugin.

Feels too banky :P and i agree with you can be really useful if also you let them set revalidation time too (if i'm missing that feature please kick me)

Revalidation time hasn't changed.

I don't have a huge problem with allowing the revalidation time being changed, but no more than 6 hours IMO.

Sounds like an excellent idea to me. Especially the way some people like to leave their systems on multiple tabs.

I wasn't necessarily planning on it being updated through JavaScript but just when you loaded the page.

Oh, in case anyone was wondering, I did already implement this, and if you look in the screenshots in http://wedge.org/pub/feats/7662/permissions-ui/ you will even see it ;) No it is not updated in JavaScript, and I'm still not convinced I would like it to be.
