Title: What I HATE in Wedge!
Post by: Nao on January 22nd, 2014, 01:36 AM
If you have anything nasty to say about Wedge, post it here!
You can't please everyone, so I'm expecting some negative feedback. If many people agree on something, then maybe it's time to do... something about it.

You don't have to install Wedge of course, but if you do, you'll be able to say what you hate about the admin area, of course.

The fact that I absolutely can't seem to get it working with my web host.

Installation problems have their own topic.
Please keep this to things you didn't like after you got it working. ;)

I don't like 'more' topic tool, as a user and admin. There is enough space for it, why not add the delete and edit there instead of more. To make the matter worse, many of my website users are using opera mini browser which I know does not load ajax lively hence a poor user experience. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good function but it can be 'harmful as well.
Still checking.

There isn't always enough space. But I get your point; at some point I wrote a script that would get stuff out of the menu until it reached the maximum available size, à la phpMyAdmin. But I didn't proceed with it because it was visible at page load time, and I prefer to avoid patrons to see what's going on in the kitchen.

Also, the mini-menus are all loaded from a complex, short JS structure in the HTML, so there's no Ajax involved here.

Thanks.

That's what I was talking about...
Now, resize your window to 800x600 for instance. It's bigger than most mobile devices will show, and smaller than what you'll be used to. Oh, it suddenly doesn't look like there's any space left...! ::)

Signatures in posts are all or nothing.  I would like signatures displayed on the original post, but not on every single reply.  I know I am picky, but I found that the forum appearance an navigation became a lot better when not every reply had a signature, especially the ones with embedded pictures or logos in it.

For that, there's already a plugin with name sig_once_per_page. :)

Somebody like me will always disable signatures.Does not look neat in mobile devices and could also be a very big distraction from the thread.

I don't like the way This is us has to be configured.  Currently it feels like a hack when it could be as simple as editing any post.  I hope this gets improved.
