It seems IE6 might not be so bad standards wise compared to the web browser that the Nintendo 3DS uses. :whistle:

I'm not clear what the problem is with the 3DS, while it uses a custom browser, it uses a custom browser in a very specific environment (i.e. it's not a general purpose device) It also seems to support a decent set of browser specifications considering that it isn't going to be generally pointed at the web at large.

The DS's browser from what I understand is a lot more powerful. Though that could also be due to the fact that they used a web browser based off of Opera.

It is not Opera-based. Chinese ripoff. Same goes for the WiiU I heard. Makes sense, seeing how HTML+JS games are making strides, I can understand why Nintendo doesn't want to compete with themselves.

Too bad.
Nintendo meant big money for Opera after they went free.
Considering how Opera 12 is not ready for immediate consumption, I'm a bit worried for their financial status.
The web needs Opera. They're the strongest proponents of standards.

I wouldn't be that worried about Opera, they do have other revenue streams, such as Opera Mobile, and don't forget that FastMail.fm is actually owned by Opera too.

I love Opera but I'm really worried about their future because they need to catch up with Chrome and right now they're six months behind their usual schedule.
Just like I'm worried about Saint Seiya Omega. The followup to my favorite show of all time which ended in 1989 is a product of its new era. Targeted at kids. Made by very talented people but I fear that the producers killed it before it even began. I'm going to a cinema preview in 2 days and I'm worried. Hey, could be worse. I could be seriously I'll or something, ahah. But it's my entire childhood which is at stake here. And I dont want it to become the new Sailor Moon. Sob.
Why was I talking about this already?!

The thing with Chrome is that Google can throw a lot of resources at it, far more than Opera can, hence the hare-like pace Chrome has evolved at compared to Opera's tortoise.
I suspect, though, some of the changes in recent Chrome versions will come back to bite, namely the push towards adopting Google accounts (the first thing you see on a new install is the 'Log into Google' prompt)
I know what you mean, actually, I've been worried about the way that things I grew up with have been treated, much like the remake series of Thundercats, for example (I haven't yet brought myself to watch it...)

I've heard it's pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the original --although the theme Rob Hubbard wrote for the c64 game was a masterpiece I still adore-- but the new show was made by a Japanese studio with a proven track record.

Yay! The composer for Sajnt Seiya Omega, according to my research, maybe very well be Kenji Hiramatsu!
He's responsible for some of the best tracks in the Xenoblade game!
it was my number one concern. Having a composer that could peacefully succeed the aging Seiji Yokoyama, the greatest living soundtrack author.
