All,
A new move is sweeping the internet where people are moving their domains off GoDaddy in an attempt to get them to drop support of both the internet censorship bills, PIPA and SOPA. A link may be found here: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=463353.msg3235578#msg3235578
This is serious and scary. This, unfortunately, isn't the first time the Feds have pulled a stunt like this. ::(

Can't boycott what I don't use ;)
But yes, these two bills are scary and of the people I've talked to, no-one seems that bothered because they believe in the law to require burden of proof (like DMCA does) except they don't get it when I explain that the law isn't set up to do so, but essentially give arbitrary industries the arbitrary ability to censor, namely the MPAA and RIAA, to protect their outdated and obsolete business models.
If it goes through as it stands, we can safely expect a fractured internet, very likely there will end up having a US divide such that the EU etc will just turn inward and look to ignore US domains. Might also see an end to .com's dominance outside the US.

My two registrars are just as cheap as GoDaddy, and they're super-cool. (Well, one of them is not exactly cheaper... But it's very reliable as a company, and they're open source champions. So, some of my domains are at their place.)

Luckily I don't use GoDaddy! ;)

I intend to move all my services away from them to another German company for my .com and web hosting. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for .co.uk ones which aren't too expensive.
I fell out with GoDaddy after their major c**k up with my services, I couldn't update my files for over a month, when I add / remove ftp accounts they do not function properly - Their response was they had fixed it, but I feel they probably didn't.
The fact that they support the SOPA movement just makes matters even worse.

Have never used GoDaddy (nor would I, I have had a Dyn account for I don't know how long, and they get all my personal registrations) but I support all efforts to stop SOPA/PIPA in the US, and here in the EU, I think PECR needs to die a death.

Wow 100,000 domains lost just due to them supporting SOPA...
Well my domains are with a nice new host, and the learning of CentOS is painful compared to a simple CPanel type system I had before, but I'm getting there...
