Windows XP End Of Support Countdown Gadget,
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=53a27766-0168-4617-b44e-74b2886cec6d&pf=true
Oh, you might want to have a look at the system requirements! What can I say it's a Gadget!
-
Windows Vista... what, the Windows 7 Edition of Vista?
Seems a bit ironic to me though.
-
I *suspect* they mean this gadget to be made for Win7 professional users who'd like to drop support for XP ASAP, and are waiting for the 'official' MS date to do it. (Of course, IE6 support was dropped long ago but that didn't stop China...)
-
Hard to be sure really, according to the the overview it's mentions "Looking to get off Windows XP?", I pretty much find the question ambiguous. It could mean a XP user looking to get off XP or what you said, did you really need to be specific about Win 7 editions? :D
Even XP Home Edition is still supported to 2014.

-facepalm-

My PC is too old for other windows versions, what do I do? Well, windows fails again...
-
Dive into Linuxland? I'm on Windows right now and it is irritating me to no end... okay so Linux fits me better.
-
Too many distros and most of them are the same shitty code with a new wallpaper...
-
but they don't require a hyper-computer like Windows does...

Windows 7 on a dinosaur!

What is windows? :niark:
-
The thing you close because it's freezing :niark:

:eheh:
-
Windows 7 not that bad
-
I use windows XP
-
Me too...

Even though recent independent studies show it is still more insecure than Windows 7 (esp. 64 bit installs)?
-
For me, older versions of Windows are especially useful for non-internet machines where I want to run other older software even a dos application and if HDD space is limited.
Windows 7 64 bit users can still do that by downloading the freebie DosBox.
-
For non-net machines, older versions are fine; I have a box in my back room that only has 32MB RAM and Win95, for example. But for my day to day stuff, I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole.
-
The only problem with Windows 7 is that offline activation relies on ACPI, the very concept criticizes by Linus Torvalds, I hope Linux users feel better now. :D

I once planned to kidnap Bill Gates and hold him for ransom until I realized I'd have to pay someone to take him back! :eheh:
-
Bill isn't really involved with Microsoft any more; really it's Steve Ballmer you need, and he's just too funny not to have around, really...
-
Yeah...
Reminds me of 'Pirates of Silicon Valley', with Jobs, Gates and Ballmer among others. It's a fun movie :P Ballmer's part is priceless. He's played by a famous voice actor. (Bender in Futurama, no less!)
-
Oh Yeah, "Bender's Humor by Microsoft Joke"

If you talk about win xp then i just can say taht my laptop doesn't work well with win 7. I don't have any win vista or win 7 drivers or would the ram in it be enough to use it. (But I do have win 7 installation. I bought a family pack :D)
-
As per links earlier in this thread, Win7 does run on P266 with 96MB RAM... just slowly...

Yeah, I noticed that it works, but I want my to run fast. I'm thinking about putting two 2GB ram sticks into my laptop. Then I can switch over to Win 7 :)
